Remedial Action Scheme¶
A pre-planned operational scheme that responds to specific contingencies to preserve system reliability.

Under normal operating conditions, PJM's EMS will perform an N-1 contingency analysis for the loss of each Bulk Electric System line and transformer within the PJM RTO. PJM will then control as indicated in Manual-03 Section 3: Thermal Operating Criteria.
When PJM EMS indicates that a simulated N-1 contingency will result in an overload on a facility that can be mitigated by a Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) that has been documented as a PJM operational procedure, the following actions should be taken: (omitted here for brevity)
